Methodology
Normal daily maximum temperature in July from the NOAA 1991–2020 monthly climate normals, taken at the nearest qualifying observing station to each city, ranked across published city profiles of 250,000 or more residents. These are normals, not records: they describe a typical July, not the hottest day ever recorded.
