What AreaProfile is for

AreaProfile provides general information about places in the United States, assembled from public federal datasets. It is research material. It is not professional advice of any kind — not financial, tax, legal, real-estate, insurance or safety advice — and no decision with material consequences should rest on it alone.

Accuracy

AreaProfile takes accuracy seriously and publishes its methodology so it can be checked. Even so, source data can contain errors, statistical estimates carry uncertainty, and transformations can have bugs. The site is provided as is, without warranty of accuracy, completeness or fitness for a particular purpose.

Physical risk in particular

Hazard information is derived from the FEMA National Risk Index and describes broad areas, not individual properties. It is not a flood determination, not an insurance rating, and not a substitute for a property-level assessment. Consult the official flood maps and a qualified professional before relying on it.

Source data and attribution

The underlying datasets are works of the U.S. government and are not subject to domestic copyright. AreaProfile’s normalization, geographic model, signals, scores, percentiles, rankings and research are its own. The agencies whose data appears here do not endorse AreaProfile or anything derived from their data on this site.

Using AreaProfile’s content

You are welcome to cite AreaProfile figures with attribution and a link. Please do not scrape the site at volume, republish it wholesale, or present AreaProfile calculations as though they came from a federal agency. For bulk access, write to research@areaprofile.com.

Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, AreaProfile is not liable for any loss arising from use of the site or reliance on its content.

Changes

These terms may be updated. Methodology changes are versioned and documented rather than applied retroactively without record.
