There is a person on the other end of each of these. Corrections are the ones that get answered fastest, because a wrong figure on a profile is the worst thing that can happen here.

What to expect
A correction report is checked against the archived copy of the source that produced the figure. Every value here is traceable to a stored file with a checksum, so a disagreement is usually settled by looking rather than by argument. If the source is right and the page is wrong, the page is fixed and the correction is recorded. If the source itself is wrong, that is noted on the page rather than quietly patched — AreaProfile publishes what the federal record says, and where it is disputed the dispute is part of the story.
Requests for underlying figures are usually granted. If you are researching something and need the values behind a chart, a ranking or a score, ask — the lineage for every derived number is stored, including which inputs produced it and what each contributed.
What this is not
AreaProfile does not give advice about where to live, does not accept payment to alter or feature a place, and does not remove a profile on request. The figures come from published federal sources and describe geographic areas, not people. If a page about your town says something unflattering, the thing to check is whether it is accurate — and if it is not, the correction address above is the fastest route to fixing it.
